Undergraduate studies

The Renewable Energy Laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge technologies in the field of Renewable Energy Sources. There is a constant effort to renew and expand the equipment.
The following lessons are taught:

1) Renewable Energy Sources

(5th semester - Department of Electrical Engineering TE)
Familiarity with the actual hybrid power grid from renewable sources, installed at 3 kW on the laboratory. Demonstration, familiarization and measurements on photovoltaic panels with their inverters, small wind turbine and battery packs.

Introduction to the concept of "smart microgrid", description of its architectural capture and real-time measurement processing with the collection system from the PC and from the island inverter screen.

Autonomous operation of the grid with energy sources of photovoltaic panels, wind turbine, batteries and as an auxiliary source the strong network of PPC and vice versa. Get measurements and download meteorological data.

Introduction to electricity generation technology from ethanol solution, beer, wine. Introduction to hydrogen production and storage technology using wind turbine power. Real time measurements on PC.

Performance Comparison for Different Fuel Type (Ethanol Solution, Beer, Wine).

Effect of temperature on the process. Comparison of water electrolysis process using wind turbine and batteries. Measurement of hydrogen fuel cell output sizes for different electrical loads.

2) Renewable Energy Sources

(6th semester - Department of Environmental Engineering and Mechanical EngineeringTE)
Laboratory exercises for familiarization with the methods of electricity generation fromrenewable sources.

Introduction to the concept of smart microgrids, description of architectureand processing metrics. Renewable resource simulation and use of specialized software to support the operation of such installations.
